Overview

SRI International's Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) performs research and development across a wide range of disciplines, from novel materials development to mixed-signal integrated circuits, spanning design to implementation of advanced optical, quantum, radar, and imaging systems, transitioning technology from basic R&D to fieldable prototypes. We conduct this R&D for a wide variety of US government clients, with applications ranging from basic scientific exploration to national security.

Our SRI campus in Princeton, NJ has an immediate opening for a Research Engineer, Electrical Engineer within ATSD, to support the growth in a variety of activities ranging from cyber-physical systems to quantum sensing. 

Responsibilities

As part of a close-knit team of applied physicists and engineers, will work on leading-edge R&D projects to realize proof-of-concept demonstrations for our government and commercial customers.  A motivated and driven Researcher will have opportunities to work across the full span of design, implementation, and testing of advanced prototype electronic systems.  The activity will be very hands-on, operating over a variety of projects, many of them related to national security. 

 

Skills should include a subset of:

  • Technical knowledge of principles of electrical engineering, including electronics and circuits.
  • Hands on experience which may consist of electrical assembly, soldering, PCB design
  • Embedded systems (microcontrollers, FPGA)
  • Implementation of instrumentation for effective and accurate measurements
  • Programming experience for analysis, simulation, and instrumentation (e.g. with MATLAB, C/C++, Python, LabVIEW)
  • Modeling and Computer Aided Design, e.g. COMSOL, HFSS, SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics
  • Physical and mechanical intuition

The Researcher should be able to contribute at the individual level, with guidance from more senior group members.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.  New graduates are encouraged to apply, while industry experience is also a plus
  • Due to government requirements, U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DOD Security Clearance is required.
