SRI's Princeton, NJ office is currently searching for an HVAC Technician that will be part of the team responsible for the heating and air-conditioning systems at the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with assigned Supervisor and/or other trades for completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Diagnose the causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Technician must be able to repack and rebuild valves, steam condensate systems, perimeter heating coils, controls and traps.
  • Testing and repairing HVAC systems by operating the systems; identifying malfunctions; repairing or replacing sealants, parts, and components.
  • Keep tools and equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Document actions by completing equipment records.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school/vocational/trade school graduate and minimum 4 years apprentice training or equivalent experience.
  • Must have a Universal Refrigeration Certification and a working knowledge of government requirements regarding the use , handling and disposal of CFCs and remain informed of any changes in regulations.   
  • Due to government requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Experience troubleshooting plant equipment, general maintenance and repairs to industrial steam heating, cooling laboratory exhaust systems. 
  • General knowledge reading system drawings and schematics and experience maintaining and repairing refrigeration systems, rebuilding water pumps, motor bearings, chilled water valves and fan coil units. 
  • Experience with safety procedures such as lock out tag out procedures for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. and lift 75 lbs.
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.  

 

The salary range is: $29.00-$38.54/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
