SRI’s Computer Science Laboratory (CSL) develops leading-edge tools and methods for areas including computer security, high-assurance systems, advanced user interfaces, computer networking, robotics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. We study the logical foundations of scalable systems beyond the scope of traditional testing or simulation, and we create and apply high-level tools for rigorous mechanical analysis. 

 

CSL is looking to hire a Computer Scientist to conduct research and development in neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence with a focus on mathematical foundations of safe, robust, responsible, and ethical AI.  The Computer Scientist will actively participate in existing and new projects on neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence for government and commercial clients.

 

This is a fully REMOTE position. 

Responsibilities

  • Co-developing research ideas
  • Leading the experimental evaluation of these ideas
  • Developing mathematical foundations
  • Dcumentation in technical reports and research papers.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area with strong mathematical background
  • Solid publication track record with a citation count of at least 75 in last 5 years and at least 3 papers in top AI/ML/PL venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, AAAI, UAI, OOPSLA and VLDB in the last 5 years
  • One additional area of deep expertise beyond AI/ML that is synergistic such as concentration measures, multimodal testbeds, mathematical foundations of programming languages, and low-energy computing.
  • Expertise to run research experiments in frameworks such as PyTorch and write code in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and conference venues as required

The salary range is: $99,088-$150,000. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including, geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in imilar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
