The Biosciences Division at SRI International has an opening for a research associate in the Center for Macromolecular Bioscience in Harrisonburg, VA. We seek motivated scientists with interests in biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, cancer biology or related fields. The candidate should be driven to contribute intellectually within a dynamic team environment and have a desire to participate in therapeutic discovery efforts with an emphasis on developing new platform technologies.
The SRI Harrisonburg site focuses on the development of novel platform technologies that enable cell-specific intracellular delivery of biological cargos. Based on this technology, we are actively pursuing novel therapeutics in oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. The Research Candidate would:
·Participate in active research programs in molecular design, drug discovery and delivery, biologic therapies, and cancer biology.
·Collaborate with scientists from other disciplines (e.g., chemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, neuroscience and immunology) in cross-divisional teams.
·Keep a detailed laboratory notebook and present their progress to the group.
·Complete necessary training classes and maintain a safe working environment.
·Learn and abide by SRI’s intellectual property guidelines.
We encourage applicants with strong laboratory or independent research experience and a broad understanding of the latest in biomedical sciences. The successful applicant must have bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a similar discipline. Applicants with master’s degrees are welcome to apply. Experience with mammalian tissue culture, PCR, and/or animal handling is a plus but not required.
Post-offer, pre-laboratory physical examination may be required. Employment at SRI is contingent on successful completion of a background check.
Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
