Overview

From applied research to product development, the Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) manages complex projects for government and commercial clients. The vision of ATSD is to create competitive advantages for our customers by inventing new technology and concepts resulting in disruptive, low cost, and high-performance solutions. The division advances the state of the art in diverse areas such as radar and electronic warfare; novel imaging technology; robotics; quantum sensing and metrology; marine technology; and applied optics.

The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C®), the premier quantum industry consortium, is a public-private partnership managed by SRI International.  QED-C has a mission to grow the quantum economy via community building, collaboration, and commercialization.  It includes participants and partners from more than 250 industry, academic and government organizations worldwide. QED-C is seeking interns to assist in enhancing and implementing new application-oriented benchmark programs and techniques in a public open-source project.  Interns will be able to work a hybrid schedule if you are local to the Arlington, VA office or work fully remotely.  Opportunities are available part-time during the spring semester and full-time during the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Quantum
  • RF systems/hardware (antennas, analog circuits, cascaded system analysis)
  • FPGA with RF/signal processing knowledge
  • Mechanical development engineer -> must be hands on
  • Radar signal processing
  • EO/IR signal processing and system design/modeling
  • Physics informed machine learning

Qualifications

  • Expertise in at least one (preferably more) quantum programming environments such as Qiskit, Cirq, Braket, PennyLane, and Q#.
  • We hire students at the B.S., M.S., and PhD level depending on internship requirements.  Ideally candidates will be majoring in an Engineering field or a related technical discipline.
  • Positions may require U.S. Citizenship

Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
