Overview

The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C®) is managed by SRI International and aims to enable and grow the quantum industry. QED-C is a public-private partnership established with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as called for by the National Quantum Initiative Act. Today, QED-C membership spans over 200 industry, university, agency and other stakeholders. QED-C participants work together to identify gaps in technology, standards, and workforce and to collaboratively address those gaps.

 

QED-C is seeking a student to implement one or more projects advancing membership development and engagement objectives. The candidate will work under the supervision of the QED-C Operations Manager and may interact with senior leadership and members. The candidate should have a strong interest in non-profit management, business development or marketing, and technology. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to consortium operations.

 

The Intern will work at our Arlington, VA office with a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week of remote work.

Responsibilities

Projects may include the following, dependent on interests and experience:

  • Contribute to membership development and recruitment through a targeted recruitment campaign, from strategy through implementation
  • Analyze and update membership records to ensure data integrity and consistency across platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, membership, volunteer relations, and governance to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging.
  • Identify and assess information technology tools to improve and automate business processes for improved operations
  • Research and report on a competitive analysis of the structure and activities at other industry associations
  • Assist volunteers to plan and convene events, such as facilitated workshops
  • Provide general administrative support to the operations team, as needed
  • Document implemented processes for the benefit of staff and volunteers
  • Deliver a presentation on the outcome of the internship

Qualifications

  • Current graduate or undergraduate student majoring in business, management, marketing, operations, business analytics, education, english, communications, physics, engineering, library/information sciences or other related fields.
  • Due to government contract requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 productivity tools, website management (e.g., WordPress), database management and social media tools
  • Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., HubSpot or Salesforce)
  • Willingness to contribute to various duties
  • Multilingual proficiency a plus

The salary range is: $20-$30/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
