Overview

The Microcircuit Emulation Center at SRI International in Princeton, NJ, needs a Facilities Technician to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to modify cleanroom facilities to accommodate installation or upgrades of process equipment.  Under supervision, duties include but are not limited to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks. Facilities technicians will also support equipment relocation and general maintenance activities. This will be on site Monday through Friday 7:00-3:30pm.

 

Through SRI's Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) and Advanced Microcircuit Emulation (AME) programs, the Microcircuit Emulation Center supplies form, fit, function, and interface replacements for obsolete microcircuits. This capability supports production, redesign, and sustainment requirements for the life of a weapon system. SRI’s Microcircuit Emulation Center is a government-supported, U.S.-based Trusted foundry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage time effectively and efficiently, and meet established deadlines
  • Complete tasks in skillful and efficient manner, including taking necessary safety precautions
  • Interface with group managers, contractors, and vendors for all equipment installation activities
  • Perform skilled tasks including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks to support new equipment installation, relocation and facility improvement projects
  • Support general light construction work, including soft wall cleanroom assembly/improvement/repair as required with appropriate trades work
  • Estimate required tools and materials for assigned tasks; communicate requirements to ensure parts, supplies, etc. are on hand for task
  • Work for extended periods of time in a cleanroom environment wearing appropriate apparel or required PPE
  • Be available for shift work and out-of-hour service calls
  • Safely use material-handling equipment as required (forklifts, pallet truck)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Due to government contract requirements candidates must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Technical or trade degree, or 2 years of equivalent experience in lieu of
  • 2+ years’ experience in combination of trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc..)
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented team player with troubleshooting/continuous improvement skills and mindset
  • Demonstrates multi-tasking and critical thinking ability
  • Demonstrates clear and effective written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to
    • work in a closed space, climb fixed and portable ladders and lift up to 50 lbs
    • to organize time and work safely
    • to have forklift training; prior experience is desired
    • to work Monday-Friday 7:00-3:30pm
    • be available for shift work and out-of-hour service calls as needed

The salary range is: $23.46-$39.70/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
