SRI's Center for Health Sciences is looking for a part-time Intern to work on an NIH-sponsored study investigating cognition and motor functional declines with older age, in people living with HIV infection, and in Parkinson’s disease. We utilize brain imaging methods to discover neuroimaging biomarkers for accelerated decline beyond that of normal ageing and examine potentially modifiable factors such as sleep and daytime physical activity. This position would be part time with a flexible schedule of hours, the intern will work onsite at our Menlo Park, CA office.

Responsibilities

Interns working on this project will receive advanced training in conducting interviews, neuro-psychological testing, and will also assist in acquiring advanced multi-modal MRI scans.  The ideal candidate will act professionally while working with study participants, is a flexible team player, motivated, and hardworking, willing to undertake appropriate training to administer cognitive and motor testing and assist in MRI application, and willing to assist in data handling and analysis of cognitive and motor tests.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program such as psychology, neuroscience, or a related degree.
  • Interest in the cognitive and behavioral aspects of aging, people living with HIV infection, Parkinson’s disease, neuropsychology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sleep, substance use.
  • Energetic personality; enjoys working with mid-age and older adults (50 to 80 years).
  • Experience working with elderly populations or prior human subjects research is an advantage.
  • Detail-oriented and good organization skills are highly desired.

The salary range is: $17.55-$23/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
